What is a Hysterectomy
Remove the source of the problem — reclaim a comfortable, healthy life.
A hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the uterus (womb). It is one of the most common and effective gynaecological operations, offering definitive relief from large or symptomatic fibroids, heavy or abnormal uterine bleeding, endometriosis and adenomyosis, uterine prolapse, chronic pelvic pain, and gynaecological cancers — when medication, hormones, or simpler procedures have not worked.
There are several approaches. A laparoscopic (keyhole) or robotic hysterectomy removes the uterus through a few small cuts, meaning less pain, minimal scarring, and a faster return home. A vaginal hysterectomy uses no external incision at all, while an open abdominal hysterectomy is reserved for very large uteruses or cancer surgery. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists ↗, the right approach is chosen for each woman based on her diagnosis, uterus size, and surgical history.
At Medifly Healthcare's partner hospitals, dedicated gynaecology and gynae-oncology teams — combining senior surgeons, anaesthetists, and pathologists — perform laparoscopic, robotic, vaginal, and abdominal hysterectomy as routine. Whether the cause is fibroids, prolapse, or cancer, the same world-class care is available at a fraction of Western prices. Learn more about related conditions on our uterine fibroid treatment page.

Minimally invasive options — keyhole and robotic surgery mean small cuts, less pain, and a quicker recovery.
3
Ovaries can be preserved — leaving healthy ovaries in place avoids surgical menopause in younger women.
4
Lasting relief — most women return to a full, active life within weeks, no longer held back by the symptoms that affected them.
